About me
The first thing you should know “about me” is that this is really about US. By that we mean that Zarlee and this blog is really owned and authored by two people (Zar and Leez)- we weren’t kidding when we said two heads are better than one!!! We are two completely different people with different styles, tastes and personalities (the style part is painfully obvious at times, more specifically when shopping together). We do however share one thing in common- a love of tennis. It seemed only logical that we make this blog about the one thing that we spend time (way too much in other ppl’s opinion) discussing, dissecting, analysing, criticising and admiring. My obsession with tennis really started about four years ago when I would casually sit and watch the Australian Open with my aunt, uncle and grandparents every January ie my aunt and uncle’s annual visit to Trinidad (oh yeah we’re both Trinis.. we ended up on this UK site because it came up when I Googled “free blogs” so why not?). Then I started to follow the tournaments more closely, but still casually, until one day I was watching a Wimbledon match at my grandmother’s house and I saw this guy playing like he was out of his mind!! I was rooting for the other player just because it seemed so unfair that this “upstart” was basically embarrassing him. As the match went on I was in complete awe of some of the shots that “this guy” was making and by the end of it I was a fan, I was hooked and I had to see “this guy’ play again. I’m sure it’s no surprise that “this guy” was and is none other than Mr Roger Federer. Ever since I have been a devoted Federer fan and just as much of a tennis aficionado. For quite some time Zar has been trying to get me to watch Federer play, so in order to put an end to her nagging I decided to watch his next match. The thing is I had such a casual, don’t care approach that it’s funny to see how things turned out. I turned on the TV with the “intention” of watching and went about my chores or whatever at the time. My brother then started looking at it while I continued breezing past the TV (hey at least someone was watching.. right?) Then my brother asked, “who playing?” I said, “Federer and some upstart” (by that time, thanks to Zar, Federer had become a household name). “Well this guy playing real good, he might actually beat Federer” he continued. So that said I actually took a look. The match was the 2005 Nasdaqq 100 Open final aka Miami Masters Series final. Nadal lost but I was totally intrigued and a Nad fan ever since. So we at Zarlee invite you to come check out our blog, post comments and join in on the fun!!!
