About me

To get to the present I'll have to start over two decades ago, when I took up tae kwon do, the Korean martial art, in my late teens. I practiced for two years, attending classes twice a week. After this time I got a little curious about other martial arts, I was also working shifts at the time, making it difficult to attend tae kwon do regularly. I did a couple of kickboxing classes, but work proved to disruptive. I left martial arts for a time, preferring just to go to the gym. A few years later having changed job and gym, I fell back into martial arts; kickboxing. For a time I attended both the gym and kickboxing. But soon found myself doing more and more kickboxing. I attained the level of black sash instructor in the summer of 2000. Finding I enjoyed teaching, I decided to qualify as an aerobic/gym assistant. After gaining those qualifications, I was very fortunate in that the first job I applied for I got. Though not a well known gym, it has opened a lot of doors in my chosen career, I have been lucky enough to work with and be-friend twice Olympic, Commonwealth and World champion, Daley Thompson. I was also blessed with a friend whose lifetime involvement in judo, had him introduce me to Winston Gordon, who I trained in his run-up to the Athens Olympics, where he place fourth in 90kg class. I continue to work with Winston, who recently won bronze at the judo world championships. As well as meeting many varied and interesting people, I have gained invaluable knowledge in my chosen field. That's the story so far and I look forward to the future.
