About me
I consider myself to be intelligent, deep, adventurous, passionate and very open-minded. I also admire these qualities in other people. I respect people who think for themselves and don't automatically and blindly subscribe to social norms and conventions. Nothing irritates me more than 'herd-mentality' and unquestioning obedience. In fact, I believe the reason the world has been allowed to reach such a dire state of affairs is because of peoples persistent willingness to just 'go with the flow' and not ask too many questions.
I tend to focus my attention on 'the bigger picture' and try not to get too caught up in the superficial, trivial aspects of life. Substance, meaning and purpose are far more valuable to me than material possessions or social status. I'm constantly striving to gain a deeper understanding of life, people and the world around me, which has led to some people labelling me as 'intense', but I'd rather be 'intense' than apathetic or prosaic.
I consider it a duty to ourselves as a species to take an interest in how our world really operates, beyond the trivial distractions such as reality TV and celebrity culture. I don't generally have much respect for people who choose the 'ignorance is bliss' route. If people could pull themselves away from the TV screen long enough, they would hopefully begin to realise the sheer extent of the manipulation, oppression and injustice that dominates our world. Maybe then we'd stand a chance of doing something about it.
