About me

I'm a Museum Education Assistant at Normanby Hall and North Lincolnshire Museum - that is I am one of the people who teaches children in the Victorian classroom, laundry and walled garden, in the Farm Museum etc. My training, however, is in speech and drama which I don't teach much now. I live in a lovely cottage in rural Lincolnshire next door (half-a-mile) to my sister Helen, her husband Glen and their three grown-up sons - Joe, Jake and Josh - and Jess their teenage daughter. I'm a Church Warden and a Parish Councillor. The former because being involved in the Church is and always has been fundamental to my being, the latter because I was brought up to the idea of civic responsibility. I'm a good cook, but hate housework. I read even when I don't have the time - a true addict who has been known to sit reading the phonebook when there was nothing else available to feed my habit. I spend my holidays in Britain visiting castles, abbeys, country houses houses, museums, occasional steam railways, and looking at moutains comfortably from the valleys. (I have climbed Snowdon, but that was a long time ago). The other thing I have climbed and am still climbing is my family tree - my grandmother drew me up a simple four generation one when I was 6 and it's been growing ever since. I love my cats, but wish people wouldn't mistake me for one of those people who wants pot cats all over the place. If I were a collecting sort of person I would collect English watercolours and blue and white pots.
