- It’s calmer than spending a wet Sunday on Prozac in a flotation tank today. The massive winds of yesterday have passed on now. It was unbelievably windy for late June. The pockets of my coat are full of sand from it, and that hasn’t happened before. Thankfully, no lasting camera damage from it‘s vigorous sandblasting. The... more

- Seriously, the wind today is incredible. It’s at least as strong as anything we had over the winter. When the wind gusted, it was simply impossible to face into it, because the wind-blown sand stung your face so badly. Even with my back to the wind, my hands were getting stung while taking pictures. Some sand got into my lens mechanism too... more

- Is Bob Dylan a Bloody Awful Singer, Or What?

- The answer, my friend, is Blowin’ in the Wind. I should really have recorded myself playing the song, but I didn’t think of it in time. Here is a cover of it by a woman on youtube who does it better than he does (but I wish she‘d pull a few less faces!): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MdXBMKSmFfE That’s the general story.... more

- The above picture was taken whist a raging gale was howling all around us. Shaun and I were determined to make the best of it, regardless of the conditions. So, rather than put coats on, we took our shirts off. Cheers, Tom. more

- Windy Dogs and Leather Sofas
- by NotBob

- Both my dogs, Penny and Paddington, are unfortunately susceptible to a touch of wind. I don't have too much of a problem with this as long as they're outside or in another room. The problem I //do// have though, is that they tend to pass wind silently. As we have leather sofas, one badly timed movement will often lead to a rather embarrassing... more

- Flanchford 30th April

- Yesterday I should have been playing golf. It rained...which is a bit like saying Hurricane Katrina was a bit breezy. Anyway the endless pools of water on the course led me to Flanchford Mill, the Surrey S and TA water near Reigate. Of course the rain had affected the lakes badly, the little stream that trickles and tinkles through the 5 lakes... more

- To bring a little variety a few words about the various weather elements may not go amiss. Wind is all about pressure. Wind develops because of differences in pressure. Pressure differences develop because of differences in temperature (due to the shape of the earth and because water heats slower than land). When air is getting warmer it... more

- It is not easy being King of the Isle of Gog. My fellow islanders understand the stress and the strains of looking after our island, because we are only the caretakers of the Isle of Gog, we have to look after it for the future generations to come. That could be said of our world, we must remember that there is only one planet Earth, and we must... more
