- Jacks and Crank
- by fredjc1

- First off here's two screw jacks to look at. The green one with the oblong base is the shape and configuration which is commonly (but not universally!) regarded as the "correct" one for WW2 jeeps. The black one with the square base is supposed to be a post war civilian type. They both have a round recess to fit the lug wrench and both lift the... more

- Pintle Hook Progress & New Marker Lights
- by fredjc1

- Progress on the Pintle hook - Despite not having bought a trailer :( I decided to set up to fit the new hook anyway. I removed the existing M201 unit with ease, it's in great shape, looks hardly used. The ring bolts, plain bolts and shim plate will all be used in fitting the original. The shim plate was sanded clean and treated with "Rustol"... more

- 91 MILES!
- by fredjc1
- in fredsjeep.blog.co.uk
- 42 days old
- Longest journey so far in the jeep today. From home up to Dallas Autos in Newbury and back - 91 miles! Nice driving conditions, took the back roads through some great countryside including a couple of challenging gradients - jeep took all this in her stride, no problems whatsoever. Long way for a tin of paint and two half door fastner... more

- Great show, reasonable weather, good crowd, good food and some wonderful cars – what more do you want! The jeep went up to Broadlands again this year for another great show outing. HPOM is great because all sorts of vehicles are there and the atmosphere is very relaxed. People appreciate the cars whether they’re Ferraris or Austin Allegros.... more

- Choke and Hand Throttle Cables
- by fredjc1

- Having changed the cable positions to get them in the right order - see previous post on this - http://fredsjeep.blog.co.uk/2008/06/22/toolkit-update-aamp-dashboard-4347214 I decided that the repro choke cable and the old M201 hand throttle cable (which has a brown knob and is marked "starter") needed some looking at. I got an original choke... more

- Original Willys MB Pintle Hook
- by fredjc1
- in fredsjeep.blog.co.uk
- 56 days old
- I class myself as lucky, because getting hold of an original cast pintle hook for the MB is not so easy. This one came from my friend Charlz over in the Philippines - thanks Charlz :). It wasn't in great cosmetic shape so I stripped all the old paint off and ground out some rusty spots. It took a while to free up the moving parts as there was a... more

- Before I set off on my hols for two weeks I just thought I'd post a few pics. Some are of the jeep out in the New Forest and the rest are my favourites from the Beltring show last month. I should be doing lots of other stuff on the jeep, but right now driving it about is much more fun! More photos at: http://www.surfacezero.com/g503/showgallery... more

- Canvas Windshield Cover
- by fredjc1
- in fredsjeep.blog.co.uk

- Canvas and jeep just go so well together. I wondered for a while if I actually needed a windshield cover, after all how many times would I be driving it with the windshield folded down? - well after this, as many as possible! The cover came from Worthing Canvas at the Beltring show, well done to them, it's a great piece, fits great, looks great.... more

- Grease Gun Bracket
- by fredjc1
- in fredsjeep.blog.co.uk
- 82 days old
- Whilst at the Beltring show I bought a nice repro grease gun bracket, the locking type for lever guns used on later jeeps. Have been waiting for one of these for a while to test my theory that the four welded up holes I found in the side of the hood were in fact for the grease gun bracket When the bracket was offered up, the welded up holes all... more
