- Our great escape

- On Monday and Tuesday this week we spent two whole days together without the girls. That’s right TWO WHOLE DAYS! Not nights – they were at nursery during the day and we dropped them off in the morning and picked them up in the evening each day but even so, it was still a pretty major thing for us. Prior to Monday, the only time we had spent away... more

- Seven month update
- by Joanna79

- It is nearly two weeks since my last entry (where does the time go?!) so I thought I’d better do an update. The girls are now seven months and a week old so here’s what we’ve all been up to: 1. Weaning. Thanks to a team effort between us and nursery, the girls are now on three meals a day. They absolutely love breakfast and dinner but were less... more

- Five Go Out to Play

- The Nursery staff celebrated the end of the year, and sadly the break-up of our lovely team, with a night out. Here we all are, posing for the waitress at the end of our meal. Liz and I are the two leavers, and we were presented with our own versions of "What I've learned in the Nursery" - which we did with the children to put with their reports... more

- Hospital drama

- I was having a fairly normal day at work on Thursday until 4.30 pm when my phone rang. I rattled out my usual greeting in a cheery sing-songy voice and got the following reply: “Jo? Hi it’s the nursery here. Ruth isn’t very well – can you come and collect her?” I dashed out and practically run over to the nursery building. Inside, I was greeted... more

- From 0 to 3 meals a day – how did we manage that?!

- To think that just a couple of weeks ago I was in weaning despair: the girls wouldn’t eat, weren’t interested in eating, it was all pointless, blah blah and now we’re on three meals a day. Baby porridge or cereal in the morning, savoury at lunch and fruit in the afternoon. Admittedly they don’t always eat very much but at least some food is... more

- My son Oscar, had his first sports-day on Friday and he won a few of the events, for which I'm well chuffed.Anyway, I did take a few photos and shot some video too, which I'd like to share with you now. So go ahead and press on those two play buttons below. One is the video that I took and then edited with some music, the other is a photo... more

- Now we are six (months)

- Six months. OH. MY. GOD. How did that happen?! So, here’s my monthly roundup: 1. Weaning. Still problematic, but they are on two meals a day at nursery now (breakfast and lunch) so that makes up a little bit for the fact that they still aren’t hugely interested at home. I think we’re getting there though, albeit slowly. 2. Teething. Still no... more

- I still have a job…

- Until the end of March 2009 anyway. This means that the girls can stay in their nursery and get the all-important continuity of care and I can continue earning enough to keep them in milk and nappies – just about! After April 2009, who knows? It looks my contract might transfer over so I work more directly with the government department I... more

- Nursery mush good, home mush bad

- After my slightly despairing journal the other day about the fact that the girls weren’t taking to weaning, they have just spent two days at nursery where apparently they ate carrot and broccoli and LOVED IT! G ate a whole tub thingy of broccoli and it sounds like she would have had more if she could have. R is still a little reticent but still... more

- No job, a proper night out and some tough decisions
- by Joanna79

- My first proper, drinking night out in 14 months was well-timed on Thursday. I found out that morning that my contract at work isn’t being renewed after August. Talk about gutted. It’s complicated, but I work for two organisations. I’m employed by one organisation (a government department) to provide them with a service but I’m based at another... more
