- When I found out I was expecting twins I got all the books I could find on multiple births out of the library. All three of them. There are more but they tend to be American and therefore…well, you get the idea. Actually one of the three is American but beggars can’t be choosers as…someone…once said. Now I’m a seasoned veteran of the whole twin... more

- 1. Nappies. You can never have enough. Ditto wipes, cream, bodysuits, sleepsuits, bibs, milk and bottles. 2. Breastfeeding. It hurts more than you can ever imagine. I only managed to bf and express for a total of five weeks. A friend of mine has been bf-ing for six months. I think she’s amazing. 3. Teething. They may have all the symptoms but it... more

- 1. Afterpains. They are unbelievably painful, not the gentle little contracting movements I was imagining. I felt like I was being kicked in the stomach and they made me need the loo. - 1. Morning sickness. It doesn’t magically stop at the end of the first trimester. In my case, it eased off after 18 weeks. 2. Food. Despite all the healthy food advice, you’ll find yourself eating whatever you can keep down. For about 4 weeks at the height of the morning sickness phase I lived on cookies and orange ice pops. 3. More food. I... more

- I watched (as I’m sure many others did) a TV programme on triplets the other night. For anyone that didn’t see it, the programme featured four sets of identical triplets, all living in the UK. While it was fascinating, the underlying tone seemed to be ‘Look! Look! There are THREE PEOPLE and they look EXACTLY THE SAME!’ Isn’t that WEIRD?! We... more

- “It’s a twin pregnancy”. It’s amazing how four words can change everything. On 11th June 2007, at 12 weeks and 5 days pregnant I went for my nuchal scan. The night before, I had a dream (my first really whacky pregnancy dream) that I went for the scan and the sonographer couldn’t find anything. As they showed me the blank screen, I wondered why... more
