- Favourite type of violence.
- by Benjaminbrum

- Fairplay and I moved from talking about nuclear obliteration of Birmingham to violence and fear. The gauntlet was thrown down with the comment "There's another bizarre conversation for you "What's your favourite type of violence?" But maybe you wouldn't want to know your work colleagues on that kind of level..." I was determined to somehow steer... more

- Listening to a podcast on the way home I reflected that understatement can sometimes hit us unawares. Today's Understatement of the Day award goes to Rachel Donadio, a writer and editor at the New York Times Book Review. She states that "Africa is a vast continent with alot going on". Thanks for pointing that out Rachel. We didn't know that... more

- A place in the bunker.
- by Benjaminbrum

- The strange conversations that go on around me. I was sat with a number of high positioned council types chatting about our "in case of nuclear holocaust" and "in case of zombie uprising" strategies. I was saying that I reckon my building would be defendable or that the council house would be a pretty good place to use. I think they've got some... more

- Recession predicted by novice...
- by Benjaminbrum

- 11 days old
- Just a quick reminder that the current economic crisis was predicted by my friend Chris here: http://beninbrum.blog.co.uk/2008/01/23/economic_prophecy~3619056 And he did it in such an Old Testament fashion too. "Something is going to give soon. Economic meltdown. The world economy will shave its hair odd and run off with its children. Food will... more

- COE vote to consecrate women!
- by Benjaminbrum
- in beninbrum.blog.co.uk

- The Church of England's ruling General Synod has voted to consecrate women as bishops and approved a code of practice aimed at reassuring opponents. You can probably already guess where I fall on the issue. I'm totally in support of having women bishops. Some clergy have threatened to leave over this issue. Many of those who threatened to leave... more

- You can hear my contribution to the BBC Fivelive film show with Mark Kermode and Simon Mayo by downloading the podcast. - International Day Against Homophobia
- by Benjaminbrum
- in beninbrum.blog.co.uk
- 64 days old
- There are 77 countries in the world today where it is a criminal offence to be gay. These countries punish women, men and children because of their sexuality and in seven countries the punishment is death. The reason today is the day against homophobia is because today was the day in 1990 that the WHO removed homosexuality from it's list of... more
