- This year I decided to do part of the South West Coast Walk - from St Ives to Penzance. So this particular section of my blog is dedicated to adventures and mishaps on that walk. This section of the SWCW starts from a beach in St Ives and is tarmac'd. No problem I thought, piece of cake. Within 20 minutes I am climbing over rocks, avoiding and... more

- Avoid Newquay like the plague. During the day its full of topless red skinned youths. During the evenings its full of drunken topless red skinned youths. Newquay must be the toilet of Cornwall and the people there are'nt very friendly either. I had to ask in a sweet shop where the bus station was - only to be told there was'nt one. On leaving... more

- I love the coast of the UK, in particular the SW peninsular. Many years ago as a student, in the early 1980s, I walked the coastal path from Plymouth to Penzance in two stages. More recently, in middle age, I have walked numerous fragments of the N Cornwall path and the path between Lands End and Penzance.Walking the coast path on a day or half... more

- Restaurant Review: The Foundry, Hayle
- by Oregano

- We recently revisited a restaurant in Hayle called the Foundry. Hayle is a bit of a strange town in that the vast majority of shops and restaurants are strung out along the B3301 over a considerable distance. There is not a network of streets with shops that you have say in St Ives or Penzance. About 6 years ago we stumbled across the Foundry on... more

- Hog's Pudding Salad
- by Oregano
- in foodfun.blog.co.uk
- 38 days old
- On the train back from Cornwall this week I was wondering what to do with the hog's pudding I had purchased on the campsite. The obvious thing would be to use it in a cooked breakfast. However, just as many people have tried using black pudding in salads or starters it occured to me that white pudding or hog's pudding could be used that way too.... more

- A challenge that Mrs O and I have had for many years is synchronisation of holidays. My American employer is absolutely driven by a quarter end rush - end January, end April, end July and end October. Mrs O's holidays are driven by the local education authority. Result is that she wanted to go on holiday at the end of last week and I could get... more

In the meantime we still hope for a resolution between Powercats Ltd and ourselves that we can both live with and move forward from. Unfortunately... more

- Well this does feel good! I have my laptop back in full working order and I've logged onto here for aquick post. I have to admit I have nothing significant to say as I am completely determined not to wallow in my own self pity, and even though I am miserable most days I'm going to try and stay positive on here as it may rub off in other areas of... more
