- It has always been said that what The North does today London will do tomorrow. In the case of the mayoral election though it took London 6 years to catch up. In May 2002 the people of Hartlepool elected H’angus the Monkey as their mayor (yes it really was six years ago.) We’ll never know if as Hartlepudlians cast their vote it occurred to them... more
